International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted ChurchSilence. The headlines over that last couple of months have spoken of the church that largely remains silent. German Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, faced with the tyranny and horror of Nazism, famously said, “Silence in the face of evil is itself evil. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.”

The International Day of Prayer (IDOP) is a day set aside for the church to remember and pray for the thousands of believers around the world who are being persecuted and many times murdered because of their faith in Jesus Christ.

This year, IDOP is Sunday, November 10, 2013 (November 3 in UK and Ireland).
